Hi, I am building a new house with concrete sub floor. The front and rear doors have been fitted with the bottoms of the doors level with each other ( as they should be.)
The distance from the bottom of the front door to the concrete base is 230 mm and the distance on the rear door is 250 mm. This distance allows me to lay down rigid insulation , ufh pipes, then a liquid screed.
My main query is when it comes to selecting the thickness of the insulation. Looking at the front door first (230mm), if I allow say 20 mm for carpet or tiles etc, then say 50 mm of liquid screed, that will give me an insulation thickness of 160 mm....looking at the rear door (250 mm), using the 160 mm insulation throughout the whole house floor will give me a screed thickness of 70 mm at the rear door....is this an issue to have the different thickness in that range? I assume you would not use different thickness of insulation over different parts of the concrete floor because then you would have insulation 'steps' all over the floor. If anyone can throw some light on my query it would be appreciated
