Push Fit Plumbing & Earthing

by kitten2310 » Tue Sep 04, 2007 9:07 am

My former partner fitted my central heating system with push fit piping and used copper pipe for the all the mains going into the boiler. We had a CORGI gas registered engineer check it and link it to the gas and certified the system. However, a relative of mine has recently noted that none of the radiators or sinks are earthed. I remember my former partner telling me that the push fit plastic piping didn't need to be earthed.

Can anyone tell me what is correct and should I get an electrician or plumber to do whatever needs to be done?

Thank you for clarifying. I can see an earth tag on the water mains inlet and there is one on the gas mains inlet.

Hi, I was under the impression that even if plastic piping is used throughout a house bathrooms included, taps and bath (if steel), still had to be cross bonded in 4mm earth cable?

Hi brickiepaul,
It is not unknown that, supplementary bonding has been installed in away to connect CPC (earth) to taps, rads etc.. But if the pipework is plastic and is terminated in copper at taps, radiators etc.
no bonding is needed.
