Integral Garage Insulation Using Kingspan Information, help, tips and advice on cavity walls, ceilings and lofts etc....

I want to insulate my integral garage. I've bought from eBay an infrared thermometer to measure the warmth in the walls and ceiling to see where I need to reduce heat loss. What I would like to know is, can I use Kingspan TP10 50mm just dot and dabbed onto plaster-board and directly onto block-work, without boarding over. Or can anybody suggest another option without going over the top on price. Thank you.

In short no. This would not be a good way to insulate your garage.

The issue here is that the TP10 50mm is a foil facing board and if you try to dot and dab it onto your plasterboard it will not stick and over time the insulation will just fall away. What I would suggest is that you get an insulated plasterboard like the Celotex PL4000 or Warmline Insulated plasterboard which are designed to be dot and dabbed and fix them to the already existing plasterboard. I would then get fixings long enough that will go into your block wall to fix them in place to ensure they do not move over time. I would say 6 fixings per board would be enough.
