Silicone Injection - Which course should I inject

by bearsparko » Thu Apr 01, 2010 8:26 am

Hi,

I am planning this weekend to install a silicon injection damp proof course.

I have 2 questions;

1. I have really good access to the brickwork below the current slate course so would it make sense to inject the course of bricks below the slate rather than above? This way I would reduce the amount of moisture getting anywhere near the current DPC and timbers. Or should I do what most of the information I have read on the subject says and inject the course above?

2. Should I inject the brick or the mortar? Do you only inject the mortar if you are dealing with engineering bricks?

Thanks,
Marco
