I need to run the refrigerator supply flex to standard socket but the only way to get the flex to the socket is via the rear of the adjacent oven housing - the length of flex passing thro' is approx 2'. I have covered the flex with a section of metal cable protection - do I need to replace this standard flex with a heat resistant flex because of heat to be generated by oven?

Heat raises, so if cable passes under oven unlikely to be a problem, however the problem with most refrigeration devices is volt drop, nearly all say do not use an extension lead.

So needs must, so select a thick lead for any extension and keep it short.

In an ideal world any oven has cooling fans to keep the outside cool, this is why we don't turn off the supply to an oven, also of course clock would need resetting. So should not be a problem with an electric oven.

If solid fuel or gas, then find another route, it's a non starter.
