Recently had a rewire completed but now want to make an alteration by adding two extra twin sockets in the same room.
Plan would be to extend the ring left and right from a central twin socket taking cables along top of skirting board in plastic trunking. It’s a dry lined plasterboard wall.
A feature low level media cabinet along the whole length of the wall would hide the trunking. My question is around using the trunking for the cables rather than have mess and inconvenience of cutting into the wall just to hide cables that won’t be seen anyway.

Should have been a bit clearer, but looking at other posts there seems to be concern over putting the power cable for the continuation of the ring main in plastic ducting and whether or not this meets IEE standards.

Cables don't even need trucking, I would look at the LAP range of fuse holders and sockets in the grid range from screwfix, easy way to split ring or add fuse is wanting a fuse spur. And the old buckles is likely best way to secure cables.
