Need Help Installing 1 Halogen Light on 2 Light Floor Dimmer Ask questions and find answers to many subjects relating to electrics and electrical work

I'm trying to install a floor dimmer on my halogen lamp. I'm pretty sure I've installed the power cord correctly, but the guide confuses me on how to install the cable coming from the lamp. It has a blue, brown and yellow/green cable coming out of it. I tried a few different options but no success.

Can someone please help me? For more information, please look at the pictures!

You connect it exactly as the instructions say you should.

One wire goes to the board the other goes to the switch, the earths you connect to earth.

Please tell me you have taken that switch out of its "box"

I can't read Dutch very well sorry, I realise in Holland it is common to swap line and neutral and so switches could be in either, however in the UK our house wiring is very different to Holland, we rely on the fuse in the plug being on the line pin, so it would seem this unit is not suitable for the UK?

Also quartz lights should not be dimmed, the idea is the quartz envelope is kept very hot so tungsten will not be deposited on the quartz, if not kept super hot the tungsten will coat the quartz and make it go black and reduce the life of the bulb.

Thanks a lot for your response. Indeed, I have taken the switch out of its box! Before I made the post, I tried connecting the yellow/green wire to number 6, the blue wire to number 7, and the brown wire to number 12. When this didn't work, I tried the same thing, but I connected the brown wire to number 7 and the blue wire to number 12.

This unfortunately, didn't work. Should it work? Should I try again? Maybe I should double check the lamp?
