Electric hot Water Heater in Flat

by nmac234 » Wed Feb 12, 2020 5:44 pm

3 electric rads, 2 hot taps and mixer shower and using immersion on an all-electric flat!
Any other type of heater can I use instead of immersion tank?

Do you need a tank? Because I have been using a tankless electric water heater and I am pretty happy with it.

I used a boiler for heating when I lived in a rental house for a while. It's quite convenient and I'm glad the owner installed it. I think you should consider buying a boiler, it would be just what you need.

It is more down to the electric supply, it will not be over 100 amp, but it could be a lot less.

For a supply from the DNO not likely to be less than 60 amp, but in a flat common to find a house has been converted to a number of flats, and the DNO supply is shared between a number of flats.

I lived in a caravan with a 16 amp supply, but to do that I needed to store hot water, with only a 1 kW water heater.

So to answer the question one have to consider maxium load, can't do that with information given.
