Bathroom Shower / Taps Mixer Unit and Issues With Getting Decent Temperature

by mbydck183 » Mon Mar 16, 2020 7:42 pm

Bathroom shower / tap mixer unit. Hot water feed from boiler in kitchen (mains pressure), cold water feed from loft (gravity fed pressure). Difficulty in mixing for a warm temperature (either freezing or boiling!). The boiler works fine and supplies hot water in both kitchen and bathroom, When running a bath i can mix hot and cold taps easily for the right temperature. Only when I raise the little knob to switch to shower mode, does mixing become a problem. Is the shower / tap unit faulty and should I change it for a new one or will the problem persist BECAUSE of the difference in mains and gravity pressure?

Hi mbydck183,
You are always going to have a problem with a mains pressure hot with tank fed cold supplies. Get the cold supply to the shower valve changed to mains.
