Hi all,
Currently my family and I are in lock-down in France due to the corona-virus and we would really appreciate your help, since we cannot call a plumber and we desperately need water! Not to mention that bottled water is nowhere to be found since the shops had been raided.
We bought a house 18 months ago with an air over water tank and a jet-pump.
Everything worked fine until yesterday.
We have a well that fills a reservoir, which then feeds our house and the pool. In order to feed the pool you need to open a valve, in which case the pool is filled only when the reservoir itself is completely full, thus the house supply is always protected.
My husband did “something” with this valve and after a few hours we noticed that there was no water in our home.
The jet pump was not pumping water so we immediately shut down the system. Our water tank was empty and so was a 1000 l reservoir. We left the reservoir fill over night and then in the morning turn the system on, but the pump was not pumping water.
We had emptied all the pipes in the house and the tank, before we turned the pump on and it worked! But, the tank never filled enough to create the pressure high enough to turn the pump off. It stopped at around 2 bars and we noticed that the pump stopped pumping water (or so it seemed to us, impossible to tell), so we turned it off.
What baffles us is that:
1. Everything had worked great, until the reservoir was emptied.
2. The pump wouldn’t pump water, than it did pump water, only to stop before it reached around 4 bars.
Is there anything we can check or do ourselves?
Thank you so much for your help!!!
