Suggests to reattach door handle to internal door

by thejackat » Sat Mar 28, 2020 11:35 am

Hi, fairly newbie DIYer. The door handle on a non-solid internal door has come loose. The self-tapping screws holding it are all in fixed positions and there isn't anywhere left for them to re-grip and be re-attached to the door. Any suggestions as to how I can repair this without changing the appearance of the door or the handle? Photos attached.

Thanks in advance.

This a common problem with these hollow core doors. The handles will usually come with a pair of "door handle through-bolts", that go through both handles and pinch them to the door. The screws should be fitted after just to hold the handle and stop it twisting when opened. You should be able to buy these online. Hope this helps

thanks for the suggestion. That looks like a popular solution to common problem and thankfully available online in these strange lockdown times. Many thanks again.
