Decking With Unstable Posts in new Property

by amurray88 » Sun Mar 29, 2020 7:02 pm

Hi All,

Moved in to a new house and the decking floor is fine but the barrier posts around the decking is not stable at all - It can be easily shaken.

Firstly does anyone know what would cause this?
Secondly, is this something that someone who is about a 4/10 diy'er could fix?

Also, the previous occupant didn't put a railing on the stairs of the decking at all - could I do this myself too?
Thank you!
Anthony

Hi,
You need to trace where there is play and add extra fixings and/or blocks to stabilise the posts.
Handrails on stairs are fairly basic on decking so you should be fine - go for it!
