At what point in my project should I involve an architect?

Hi,
Depends on the size of your project. For smaller extensions an architectural technician will be able to help you.

Hi,
Firstly you don't necessary need an architect, an architectural designer or technologist generally provide the same service at a fraction of the cost. I contacted our designer at the very early stages. I got a free consultation which lasted about 60 minutes on the telephone. we discussed my budget, what I wanted, time scales, then he explained to me the process, a few design options based on my budget and planning constraints. After the phone call he sent me a detailed fee proposal with everything we had discussed and even attached a few pictures of a similar project they had completed. I found it all very useful and this was at the very early stages before i had contacted any one else.
