Bad taste to water after new washing machine connected

by tyshapuzzle » Wed Apr 15, 2020 5:02 pm

Hi all

Ever since we had a new washing machine fitted there has been a terrible TCP taste to our kitchen cold water. I believe that this might be caused by water from the washing machine hose backflowing into the cold water supply.
I have been doing my best to research my problem and I understand that the solution is to fit a single check valve so that water standing in the hose does not get drawn back into my drinking water when I operate the tap.
However what I can't find out is specifically where to fit this. I know nothing about plumbing or what pipe is what and so the arrangement under the sink is a complete mystery to me. Perhaps someone could draw me a diagram? I have attached a picture.

Hi tyshapuzzle,
Before you go to the trouble of fitting a check valve suggest you turn off the valve next to the hose connection when you are not using the washing machine. See if this cures the problem.
