Correct wiring new light fitting

by Gilbo777 » Sun May 03, 2020 7:31 pm

Hi, I’ve read through various posts , please can you confirm I have this correct? Photos attached.

I’m replacing a plastic light fitting that goes into a rose with a metal one that just attaches to the ceiling with a bracket

I believe I should put the switched live into the Live terminal (blue with brown around it)
Earth into Earth terminal (green yellow)
Neutral into neutral terminal (black)
And as I haven’t got a spare terminal use a terminal block to connect live (red) and live (brown)

Can I cut the double terminal block in half to save space?
Is it ok to wrap the cable inside the fitting as I want it a lot shorter than supplied ?
Is it ok that there is just one earth that I can see, or might another be there when I remove the rose?

Sorry for all the questions, I want to get this right.

Thank you

Yes you can cut the choc bloc in half.

There might be another earth wire.
