I bought a old cast iron gate from a salvage place. When bought inwas advised I would have to buy new lock.
Trying to get handles off but having issues. I expected handles would need some persuasion to come off spindles but they dont seem normal. After searing one off in utter frustration it seems that the spindle moves freely inside the handle but only to a point. Seems to be getting stuck by a mechanism on the inside. There is a hole on the underside of the handle but no screw or anything on it. Any ideas ? Is there like a special tool I need to insert into the hole (he hee) to set the handle free ?
