Basin waste doesn't fit bottle trap

by rosedani » Wed May 20, 2020 3:51 pm

Hi All,

I recently bought a basin unit online and it came with a press top waste and a bottle trap.

The thread on the waste is 40mm wide but the top of the bottle trap is too big to screw onto the waste thread. Have they supplied the wrong bottle trap or do I need to buy a separate connector to attach in-between the waste and the trap?

I've attached pics to make it easier to understand what I mean!

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi rosedani,
Basin wastes are normally 1 1/4" looks like you have an 1 1/2 trap.

Thanks, so if I buy this:

Will it allow me to connect the two together?

Hi rosedani,
No it won't help at all.
You need to buy an 1 1/4" trap - looks like the one you have but it's smaller.
