Roof Batten Types
I have come across
- 'Blue Treated Timber Roofing Batten' at £0.54
- 'Treated Counter Batten' at £0.48 (which has 'High Pressure treated with Tanalith 'E')
- Rough sawn Whitewood Roof battens
- Planned Smooth Timber
- Planned Smooth Timber - Softwood
Can anyone recommend what type of Roof Battens that I should use please?
The plan would be to paint these before assembling.
Size
I went into B&Q today and thought 34mm width was too small and preferred 44mm width.
I have read that
Please also note the 25mm x 50mm is a nominal thickness, the final thickness will be closer to 22mm x 45mm. Treatment colour may vary
Due to this, should I be looking for 50mm width battons?
Fence Posts
Plan is to fence my back wall and space the posts to ~1.8m.
Hopefully I can secure Battens at 3.6m in length.
Posts will be 8ft in length and 90x90mm.
If I go with thicker battons should I increase the size of the posts?
Thank you in advance
