I have 2 x vent bricks outside ,either side of the house into my cavity wall for the lounge. The vent bricks are lower than ground level but below the damp course, and have their own dig out pits with gravel/shingle in. The ground around them is hard standing and loose stone. They are on the walls adjacent to my chimney breast. However, the floor of my house seems to be concrete and not timber. What are these bricks venting? I get a lot of standing water One of the pits always fills with water in heavy rain and the bottom vent holes fill with water. I am concerned that these vent bricks are allowing standing water and rain to soak under my house? Is this normal or should I be worried. I have been in this house 6 months with a lot of heavy downpours. In heavy rain, there is a lot of standing water that puddles and stays against my brickwork and doesn’t drain fast (membrane, stone and clay ground...)The house is from 1980s and there are no signs of damp in the lounge and no signs of damp on the building. Any advice?

Most likely these supplied air to your fireplace. If you don't need them seal them up.
