how to improve water flow with unvented megaflow system

by pcc » Fri Jun 26, 2020 3:30 pm

Hello,
Thank you for reading my request.
I am looking for some advice with regard to improving the water flow around my house and in particular to the cold water outside taps.
We live in a bungalow, and have a 210 litre Megaflow unvented hot water system in the loft.
Very simply our mains water supply enters the house at about 2.7 Bar on a blue pipe which is immediately connected to 22mm.
A direct feed goes to a tap in the utility and to 2 outside taps via 15mm pipe.
Another direct feed goes to a Harveys water softener via 22mm pipe and from there also via 22mm pipe to feed the remaining taps and the Megaflow.
The water pressure throughout the system including all taps is usually around 2.7 Bar (at the time of no water demand).
The water flow from all the taps however, whilst being equal on both hot and cold is only between 8 and 9 litres per minute, and drops off considerably if more than one demand is made at the same time. Trying to use a garden sprinkler is very poor.
Any advice as to how to improve this would be very welcome plus a rough guide to costs.
With the system involving a pressurised hot water system I would be using an experienced professional to carry out any modifications to my current system.
In the event that a fix is either too expensive or indeed cannot be done, I propose to purchase a second-hand 1000 litre tank for placement in the garden, and then pump water to the sprinkler from that, topping it up during the night.
Any advice will be welcome.
Regards
Patrick
