Replacing rotten wood lintel above a window

by Tuctuc » Thu Jul 02, 2020 11:56 pm

I have a rotten wood lintel inside above a window, span is 1m, & the long standing leak that caused it is bring fixed.

Now I was going to replace with a concrete lintel of same size, looking at the bearing support the Lh is approx 5.5" into brickwork, but the RH side looks only to be 2" at most as its into the party wall.
What do I do?

Cheers

Hi tuctuc
Assuming you have checked the load on the lintel 2" bearing is not enough - you should find a way of increasing the to at least 100 mm.
