Height of sockets

by shortfuse » Wed Mar 28, 2007 8:55 am

I am renovating an old house. The sockets and light switches are above or below the heights stated in the new regulations. Do I need to change all to be within the regs or does it only apply to new installations? If I replace all the wiring and switch plates can I keep them in their existing positions? Also, is the 450mm min and 1200mm max a guide or would an installation fail a test if outside these tolerances? Cheers!

regs say ok to keep at same height, for rewire but any new points, say an extention must be 'no worse' than original.........
positions are about the disability discrimination act and are meant mainly for new and/or public places as an aid to wheelchair users ond people unable to reach down, should not fail inspection,
