Replace the 2 gang switch to smart switch

by WFun » Sun Jul 26, 2020 10:16 am

Need some help please.

I try to replace the normal switch to smart switch at my kitchen/dining area. Both switches is 2 gang.

The first switch (2 gang) control dining area and kitchen, the second switch (2 gang) is control kitchen and under cupboard light. Is there any smart product to replace my current traditional switch? It seems a bit confusing that all the smart switch only control 1 way.
Many thanks.

Kind regards,
WFUN

2 way smart switches are available, I have no preferences, so I just looked via a search engine and yes, you can get 2 way smart switches, but I would point out some require a neutral (Check to see if you have a neutral at your light switch first) The other thing is, the idea of a smart switch is you only need one / light, as you can control it via voice or smartphone.

Hi Mr White,
Thanks for the response.
Both switch have the neutral cable on it.
The only problem for me is the traditional switch has six holes (see attached photo) but the smarts version on have 4 - L, L1, L2 & N.
How do I connect into it?
Thanks.

Kind regards,

You have to "do away" with one of your 2 way switches, as the smart switch does not need all of those wires, I would think carefully first, or better still leave them be, and buy smart lamps. (Much less grief)
