Repairing concrete on the underside of a balcony

by cjk » Mon Aug 03, 2020 10:55 am

Hi all,

I recently bought a 1960s house with concrete balconies.

Some of the concrete has fallen off over the years, exposing some of the steel rods, and therefore needs repairing. I have not placed concrete before - do you have advice on doing this, or should this be done by a professional? Mainly due to the fact this is on the underside, so I'm a bit worried about gravity...
I attached some photos.
Thanks in advance.

Hi cjk
The reinforcing mesh in the concrete has gone rusty so it is doubtful whether any repair carried out by sticking concrete back on the underneath will be successful.
It may be necessary to break back the balcony to sound reinforcing mesh and then to fit new mesh and recast the balcony edge.
Suggest you seek professional help.
Regards S
