Solvent Weld Problem With Replacing Pedestal Sink

by bromdad » Thu Aug 27, 2020 4:48 pm

Hello,

I am replacing a pedestal sink with a vanity unit and I need to reorganize the waste plumbing which currently consists of an arrangement of 3, 32mm solvent welded 90 degree bends, solvent welded into a strap boss on the soil pipe underneath the floorboards.

There is no actual piping between any of the solvent welded components. I cannot see a way that I can cut the current arrangement to get to a point where I can fit a new fitting. Can anyone help with the easiest way out of this? Is there a fitting available that can go inside a cut fitting (i.e. inside a 32mm pipe).

Thanks in advance!

Hi bromdad
Use a saw to cut a number of cuts the depth of the elbow (along the pipe run) - probably 3 or 4, then use a screwdriver to prise off the elbow. This will leave you with a rough 32mm stub which will need a bit of sanding so your new fittings will fit. Do a trial with the second elbow from the strap boss.
