Hi all, just replacing a manhole cover as well as doing some cellar work.
Noticed my sewer pipe joints are pretty gappy and when water runs over them some seepage into the ground is inevitable. Presume its just the way they used to fit them. But is it ok to seal the gap and joins and if so what should I use?

Im trying to minimise ground water getting into my cellar walls of which this 'could' be partially responsible.

Get some rapid setting cement/mortar, make a "liquid" mix and work this into gaps in the lower pipes. Make a thicker mix and point the higher level gaps.

Thanks Stoney - I guess a waterproof mortar the best bet then and try not to use any water in the house for the day.

Suggest you use rapid setting pre-mixed mortar which will set in about 30 min.
