Internal brickwork on gable end repointing?

by sheepish123 » Tue Nov 03, 2020 10:19 am

Looking at insulting my loft somewhere in the near future to use as an office space. Gable end brickwork looks pretty bad, mortar sandy and missing in places. Gable end is also single brick - what would be the best way to insulate and repair this?

Property was built around 1890, end terrace.

Would I be right in thinking i'll need lime mortar to repoint & would this be suitable? - https://www.lime-mortars.co.uk/lime-mor ... cragg/25kg

Hi sheepish123
Unless the mortar joints are a lot worse than your pictures there seems little need for repointing.
Fix treated battens to the wall add a DPM and fit insulation + plasterboard Onto this.
