Gas fire pilot going out (due to fire at back/underneath fire?)

Hi,
First post here. Just having trouble with fire that keeps going out because pilot doesn't stay lit. I think what causes it to go out is fire is catching underneath/at back of fire. Sometimes process is slow takes 5 mins as fire catches various areas. Or sometimes it is quick like video:

Would really appreciate any insight as the engineers we've had out so far have been useless and just want to sell us a new fire (for 3 grand!) I'm sure this is fixable/solveable.

Many thanks

Joe
