Tiling in a shower after damaging tiles and plaster board

by harveyW » Tue Nov 10, 2020 10:27 am

Hi

I have to fix a new shower door and when removing the old one managed to take some tiles and plaster board with it! This left a big hole in the shower. I made a wooden frame, secured it to the existing joists and attached new plasterboard to it. Now I need to tile over the plasterboard. Should I fill in the gaps at the sides and does anyone have any advice about tiling onto plasterboard. Thanks in advance.

Hi harveyw
You should be using tile backing board in this area and you must fit a complete framework around the hole so that there is no movement between the existing and new board.
