Water splashes up from floor when flushing toilet!

by sy_lavery » Tue Nov 24, 2020 11:52 am

Hello all, hoping you can give me a bit of advice on a plumbing problem I've got.

In the last few days, we've noticed that whenever we flush our toilet, it's started making a gurgling noise for a few seconds at the end. We've also just spotted that at the same time as the gurgle, some water is splashing up out of the floor behind the toilet. You can see it in this 3-second video clip:

Any suggestions as to what might be going on here, and what I should be doing about it?

After doing some googling, I suspect I might have a blocked vent stack, because:
- the drains definitely aren't blocked; water's draining just fine
- we had a bad smell in our house the other day, which implies the stinky fumes aren't getting out through the vent like they ought to

...but I'd value the opinion of someone who knows more than I do!

Thanks

Hi sy_lavery
Looks like the seal on the pan adaptor has either split or dropped. You will have to remove the pan and check the seal.
