Viking Hel 700 hedge trimmer carbon brushes

Hi,
I have a sparking carbon brush on my Hel 700 so need to change it. Problem is I cannot see any way to remove the old one without bending bits of metal (which I am reluctant to do).
If anyone has any ideas on this, I would be most grateful!
