Lifted carpet find floor board mess

by steve2095 » Mon Dec 07, 2020 10:27 pm

I have just lifted the carpet on our landing to find the floor boards in a mess.

A combination of previous owner, electric rewire and central heating install to blame.

There's nothing I can do now before new carpet goes in unfortunately.

So the question is, is it worth lifting the new carpet later to address the floor boards and to what cost?

Thanks

Hi steve2095
If the joins have been properly supported and there is no relative movement between adjoining boards then ignore the mess and just cover it up. If however you can detect movement it would be better to get it sorted or you will get lines and uneven wear of the carpet along the joins lines.
