Fixing Cupboard to Plasterboard

by Mysteryman » Mon Dec 14, 2020 1:54 pm

My friend has just moved to a new house and, apparently, the walls are plasterboard with a 3 inch gap before thermal blocks (assume there is also some insulation between too)

But, the bottom line is that there is nothing solid to fix screws into.

She would like to hang a cupboard on the wall - I've, hopefully, attached a photo to show this. Not too big or heavy.

I have suggested they use Plasterboard Rawlplugs, but, wanted to check if people think that hanging a cupboard, such as this, is feasible if it is just going to be attached to plasterboard. What is a sensible weight to put on such a wall?

Thanks

Hi mysteryman
Suggest you use the corkscrew type plasterboard fixings, if you have the standard hanging brackets - a bent plate about 50mm wide with two slots - keep the fixings as far apart as possible.
