Replacing old bath deck mounted taps (copper fittings)

by rainandsnow » Sun Dec 20, 2020 2:10 pm

Hello,

I am unsure of this fitting type, is it a simple screw/unscreew with spanner or does it require a solder and I may need to get a plumber?

Thanks in advance.

Hi rainandsnow
If there is a compression joint further down the pipe, undo this and you should then be able to remove the connecting pipe.

Hi stoneyboy,

Unfortunatly not, I can see the pipe is connected directly to another soldered joint.

I could cut it and replace it with somthing like this flex tap, push fit ?https://www.screwfix.com/search?search=jg+speedfit+flex+tap

Hi rainandsnow
That is the easiest solution just be careful to get the length right so that there are no kinks in the flexibles. Use a rotary pipe cutter so you get a neat end,and check you are not dealing with 3/4” pipe rather than 22mm.
