Repainting

by Spuggyfoot » Thu Dec 24, 2020 6:44 pm

Hello everyone
I Ho, ho hope you can help. I have an old timber framed vehicle that I keep in the barn. I only use it once a year. It’s bright red with a gold leaf trim.Thing is it’s starting to look a bit tired and could do with a touch up here and there. Its seen quite a bit of weather. It’s had many layers of paint on it over the years. I thought this year was about time it had a bit of TLC.
The Mrs says I should ask the diydoctor, they are very good she says.
The question is do you think I should take the old paint off with a sander, thinners or nitramors? Or just paint over it again. Thanks for any help you could offer, all the best to all trades, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hi spuggyfoot
If the existing paint is sound probably best to overpaint it.
