Condensation on the inside of Flat Roof Extension Skylight...

by Retired TD » Tue Dec 29, 2020 2:59 pm

The extension to our kitchen / lounge which we had rebuilt eighteen months ago, has a one-metre square skylight (not glass) fitted within a .3m deep 'box-tunnel'.

At the moment the skylight which has a double skin fitted, is collecting quite a lot of internal moisture which is concerning.

Not wishing to have the cost of refitting a different unit to the tunnel I wondered if the following solution may work.

Fitting a double glazed unit approx .9m/sq within the 'box-tunnel' - sandwiched between hardwood sealed battens.

Your comments welcomed.

Kind regards

Hi retiredtd
Your aim should be to stop moisture getting into the skylight so suggest you use a sheet of clear plastic instead of dgu. If you do choose dgu it will have to be toughened glass.
