hi everyone, im in need of abit of help in terms of conversion and understanding it properly.
we currently have a completely off grid property in Panama, previously we ran it as a eco lodge, and have mostly used a combination of generators and small solar devices over the years to power things.
now we are thinking of reopening but at another level, currently we have a 14kva generator which is fantastic and can power pretty much anything we want however it is noisy, not moveable, requires fuel and maintenance etc.
currently we are looking into using 2 or 3 hydro turbines in a inline system from 1 reservoir tank to another and keeping the larger generator for pool pumps and running of any construction machinery etc.
my question is battery setups and bank size for a 12kw system. we plan to use as much 12v equipment as possible, however things like fridges and freezers etc in our area are not available so they will also be part of the system.
this is where i get confused, converting Kw to Kwh to Ah in battery size.
if our average draw on the system is 8kw an hr for 16 hours the daily use should be 128Kwh if i convert this to Amp hours at 110v i am at around 1200 amp hours. is this correct?

Yes correct, the question on battery use is what battery? I did some work on the Falklands, and we used old bus batteries Nickel Iron which can be left discharged, but Lead Acid need fully charging once a month, with NiCad they were able to be left discharged but could grow crystals which could short them, so OK as new being fully discharged but not after, today we have batteries developed for electric cars and Tesla do battery packs for the home, but not cheap.

In UK I looked at UPS for computers at work, and it seems individual units a lot are made so cheaper to have individual unit for each computer to one large one.

Missed that, yes just under 1200 Ah or 1163.636364 Ah. I note ebikes don't seem to be able to make up their mind as to if shown as Ah or Wh.
