I'm selling my house and I have been asked by solicitor about the removal of the collar around the loft hatch.

I have been advised that this is a structural alteration and money will need to be kept back to pay to have this reinstated.

I have no idea what this is or the price of repair?

Any help please?

Without seeing the exact issue it's difficult to advise. However, it sounds to be like a big deal is being made of something just to get a reduction in price. if I was you I would reinstate the collar as it should be a simple fix. Then money will not need to be stopped. you may find that the new owners will then take it out after they move in anyway.
