"Non-removable" belt on vacuum cleaner? Help, advice and problem solutions on all aspects of home appliances from washing machines to TV's

Has anyone ever seen this before...?

When using the brushbar on our Vax upright cleaner (model Air3 Pet, about 7 years old) it emits a load of noise, even after laboriously pulling all debris off it. Spent ages trying to find out how to remove it to inspect the drive belt (the bearings for the brushbar seems to be glued in place) and couldn't find any reference to replacing the brushbar or drive belt anywhere on the internet. Eventually found the user manual for the cleaner online, which said "Brushbar and belt are not removable".

Has anyone ever seen a vacuum cleaner without a serviceable drive belt before? If this is really the case it seems scandalous. Or has anyone on the forum actually managed to remove the brushbar on this model?

The Dyson was hard to replace belt, it had a clutch so if brush jammed the belt should not slip, but once belt had stretched it did slip and would melt the plastic pulley. With the model that put down cleaning power is was a really hard job to replace drive and belt.

I did it once, and said never again.

However to be fair Dyson around 10 to 15 years old, maybe more, and old Hover Junior we would replace around every 4 years if we were lucky. We tried moving to a battery vacuum, it was a waste of space, but the 3 kW garden blower and vacuum that really does suck up the rubbish, although not keen on the way it all goes thought the impeller, tend only to blow with it.
