Smart Switch, Electrics and LED Flickering

by Danny-r » Sun Jan 24, 2021 1:10 am

Hi guys,

Wondered if anyone could help.

Recently installed a two-gang smart switch which goes to an outside light and a porch light. The outside light works perfectly, the inside light has some slight flickering. We've installed the same model smart switch elsewhere in the house with no issue for the kitchen spotlights.

The manufacturer provided a capacitor to allow a 'no neutral' install. We had the neutral wire connected, but he advised to do both since we were having flickering. It made it worse. A loud buzz and an even more pronounced flickering.

Any advice?

It may be that the flickering lamp is powered by a "transformer" and it is not compatible with your switch.
If the lamp is powered by a transformer you will either need to change the transformer or change the lamp to a mains powered lamp.
Failing that go back to the switch manufacturer.

How would I know which it is? Mains or transformer?
