Insulating under caravan - is membrane needed? Information, help, tips and advice on cavity walls, ceilings and lofts etc....

Hi,

Looking for some guidance, I am going to insulate the underneath of my static caravan using fiberglass rolls and was planning to either use insulation support netting or a damp proof membrane sheet to keep the insulation in place.

I am just trying to find out which option would be best, the caravan is boarded round the bottom on all sides so no water can get to the underneath.

Will there be any issues using the netting as the insulation wouldn't be covered and open to the air under the caravan?

Probably better to use netting so any condensation can evaporate.

If you want to use a wool type insulation, then use Rockwool. Its waterproof and insects hate it. Using a netting is a good idea to stop the insulation from falling, but mice etc. might like that so might be a good idea to use some timber laths also just in case. Rockwool RWA45 will do the trick for you.
