Window sealing due to draughts and handle

by Amey1988 » Fri Mar 12, 2021 7:09 pm

Hi there,

Hope you are well and safe.

I live in a multistorey building with the windows that you can see in the photos attached.
The issue is that cold air is coming in through the connection of the case/frame and the window.- See highlighted red box in the photo. Is there any way to seal this? Caulk? Can I apply it in a metal connection? Any other way ?

Finally, on the second photo there is an air ventilation system from where cold air is coming in too. Is there any way to remove this?

Any other suggestions how to improve these windows?
Will the secondary glazing look bad?

Thanks in advance.

Hi amey1988

If draughty are coming in through joins you could seal these with silicone mastic. The ventilation system you refer to is not visible in your photos so it is difficult to advise.
