what types of undercoat/primer for dark wallpaper and bath?

by Fiona Mackinlay » Wed Sep 12, 2007 10:14 am

Hi there,
I want to paint a dark red tartan wallpaper gardenia. Someone mentioned using an oil based undercoat/primer..is there such a thing and will it work?
Also, should I use a primer/undercoat for a rolltop bath?

Thanks

I'd strip the wallpaper then either paint the wall if the surface is good enough or line and paint.

Cheers

Sorry forgot the bath.

Are you talking about the outside under the roll so it's purely decorative or the inside?

What's it made of and is there any current surface protection?

Cheers

Oil based undercoat is the common undercoat that is available at all stores. Give the paper a good coat with a roller and allow to dry completely.
This done you can emulsion as normal.
