Tap washer holder 'stem' advice after changing washers

by Dave6789 » Thu May 06, 2021 10:03 am

Hi. I have just replaced the washers on 2 very old bath taps. The hot one is now noisy when running half on. I noticed the backplate the washer is up against has a stem that goes into the tap body but there is nothing to hold it there, no thread etc it just slips into the tap body and drops out under gravity. Is this correct, nothing looks broken?

Hi dave6789
Yes it is correct but the new jumper should not be sloppy in the bottom of the tap.

Thank you stoneyboy. I didn't change the jumpers just the washers but noticed one of the jumpers was loose.
Thanks for the clarification, Dave
