Cracks in ceiling after roof replacement

by JOEG » Sat May 15, 2021 8:59 am

Hi all,

I had a bay window roof replaced today as it was leaking.

When i got home i noticed my smoke alarm had fallen off my hall ceiling. I then noticed some cracks in the wall adjacent to the front door running down to the front door.

What do you think has caused this and are they serious? Whats the best cause of action?

The windows are pvc. Do you think that when the original windows were replaced they didnt give enough structural support and removing the roof covering/ board has caused some structural movement? Or is it just plaster cracking?

Hi joeg
If the bay window roof is attached near the front door and the crack has appeared since the roof was replaced you need to get the roofing person back.
