Hi everyone. I'm in the process of installing underfloor heating downstairs. I've lifted the existing 18mm chipboard (over raised joisted floor @400mm spacing) by carefully extracting the old nails and lifting complete boards (originally laid around 1982 I beleive).

Question is, is it advisable to re-use the same chipboard and lay it back down in exactly the same position after fitting the UFH? Will the removal of original nails have weakened the boards and therefore increase the likelihood of sagging? There seems to be no damp and they look structurally sound to me. And the nail removal process has resulted in minimal damage to the boards. Or am I being to tight and should just replace them all (around 22sqm)?

Has anyone had experience of re-using boards, how did it go.

And finally, should joints be glued? (The ones I lifted were not).

Provided the boards have not swollen you may as well use them. Make sure you have support under all joins.
