Shower mixer fittings for installing new mixer shower

by jacks » Mon Jun 07, 2021 10:58 am

Hi,

We're in the middle of replacing our shower, and naively thought we could just remove the old mixer and replace it with the new one. However, it turns out the new mixer needs to attach to some kind of fitting that isn't already installed, and doesn't come in the box. The only fittings that came with the shower are a pair of offset connectors, but they need to screw into something.

Can anyone give me some advise on what fittings we need/what we need to do to get the new mixer attached? I've included photos of the current pipework and the instructions for the new mixer.

We have tried and failed to find a plumber who doesn't have an enormous lead time, so hoping this is something we can figure out ourselves. We do have a friend with the tools and experience soldering copper pipework, if that's necessary.

Thanks!

Hi jacks
Suggest you buy two 15mm compression copper to 1/2” bsp female 90deg outside tap adaptors. cut off the existing elbows and fit the adaptors -screw them to the wall. Fit the offsets using ptfe tape so they are at the right centres.
Regards S
