Design quote and viability costs

by Lourob10 » Thu Dec 10, 2020 9:20 pm

Could someone tell me if this is typical please? I’m looking to remodel a house and have been quoted £1500 for a measured building survey, £2400 to go through the concept design (RIBA stage 2) and £2400 to go through the developed design (RIBA stage 3). To pay over £6000 to see if the project is viable is making me wonder whether the purchase is feasible. The budget altogether is between £40k-£50k
Thanks for any advice.

Hi mate

Sounds expensive, for that type of budget it sounds an expensive design service.

Look for a decent Architectural Technologist, they can do the feasibility, the Planning and Building Regulations.

I'm based in West Yorkshire so would be happy to assist if your local? If not, look for a local Architectural Technologist

Seems fair, but I think it depends where you are and what you're doing. I've been told my site is very complex by many an architect so my costs are far higher than yours. Best to tender to a number of architects.
