Strip foundation infill help needed for small shed base

by Marlar » Mon Jun 14, 2021 11:55 am

Hello

This is a most basic - and I'm sure to many, dumb - question, but I'm having trouble finding any reference to it on any forums/googling/youtube vids:
I've dug and poured my concrete strip Foundation for a basic single skin block shed (6mx3m).
I'm about to build up from below ground to dpc using engineering brick before proceeding from them on with block... So the question I'm looking for an answer to is this -
Given that the bricks will occupy the middle of the foundation bar, as I come up to ground there will be a gap either side of it. What do I fill it with? Is it silly a case of sticking a load of hardcore and earth down there. Or am I missing something obvious?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi marier
Assuming you will form a concrete slab floor use hardcore inside and earth on the outside. Suggest you use a DPM underneath a concrete slab which is lapped into the DPC.
