Issue with window opening at an angle and missing latch

by twera89 » Fri Jul 09, 2021 8:42 pm

Hi all,

We have 2 windows in our property that open at an angle. I've noticed there is a small "latch" missing in both windows, well 1 is snapped and the other is missing.

Does anyone know what these are called and/or what is involved in replacing them?

Attaching photos as a reference.

Hi twera99
It looks like your windows are on the first floor and you have fire escape windows. Normally the windows in the fully open position will split the window about 1/3 and 2/3. If the fire escape latch is released (or missing in your case) the window can be moved right back allowing escape. You may have to replace the hinges, I doubt a repair will be successful .
Regards S
